Chivalry's Great Helms

ChivalryIn this dream I find myself floating above a parade of people.   At first I can fly and hover about 4 feet above the ground.  The height at which you can fly is somehow related to one’s authority level.  This height feels comfortable and I do not feel threatened or in any kind of danger. I seem to have mastered this level of comfort and have been granted its corresponding authority.

I am then pushed by an invisible force to new heights.  It completely throws me outside of my comfort zone.  I feel as if I’m being pursued by an invisible force.  I feel unsure of myself.  I am now flying at the tops of the buildings far removed from ground level.  Once you have mastered the gift of flight you can basically fly at any height.  The thing that prevents us from reaching such heights is the energy that is required to reach such a new height and the fear that sets in when such a height is realized.  I’m now uncomfortable wanting desperately to return to ground level.  I must find a way back.  I slide along telephone wires and power lines looking for a vertical drop.  I finally find a vertical drop which descends into a location where they are singing karaoke.

I walk into a coffee house to grab a cup of coffee but the guy at the counter is cleaning out the pots and putting away the coffee.  He says to me, “the coffee hour is over.’  I then turn and begin walking down the street.  I not notice a guy in a wheel chair who is going into a public restroom.  As I walk past the men’s restroom I double back to use it myself.  I walk in and immediately feel uncomfortable.  I do not see the man in the wheelchair.  I immediately turn around to leave.  Before I can even put my hand on the door to exit, the door flings open and an invisible force walks past me.  Its presence is very strong.  Even though I can’t see the force I can sense its exact location with my inner eye.  I follow it with my eyes to let it know I know of its exact location and to indicate that I am not afraid.  As I turn to leave once again,  it grabs me from behind and pulls me back into the restroom.  I struggle but am unable to break free of its grasp.  I’m not gaining any ground.

HelmsThe struggle awakens me.  As I open my eyes I can see two men floating above my bed.  As in the dream I point at the one that is further away from me as a clear indication to him that I can see them.  He says to me, “Don’t point.”  I then hear my conscience say, “It’s not polite to point.”  Having made my point I begin to study their appearance.  Both entities are wearing unusual hats.  In my mind I thought to myself, “What unusual hats.”  To this remark I immediately heard the one say, “Chivalry Hats”.  I immediately grabbed my voice recorder from my bedstand and recorded the details of the dream and vision.  I then got up out of bed as another gesture to these visitors that I was not afraid or their presence.  I then marched down the hallway to the restroom to use it then returned and crawled back in bed.  Inside me I really was afraid but I refused to show my fear.  This force appeared to be a power greater than I.

Chivalry[1] is a term related to the medieval institution of knighthood. It is usually associated with ideals of knightly virtues, honor and courtly love. The word is derived from the French word chevalier, indicating one who rides a horse (Fr. cheval). Today, the terms chivalry and chivalrous are used to describe courteous behavior.

What’s so amazing to me is that as I began researching this dream/vision I was amazed at how my research into Chivalry Hats echo not only the dream but things in my personal life.  The synchronicity and interplay between the dream, my vision, the research and personal events in my life was remarkable.

Chivalry, a word uncommon in my vocabulary led me to Knighthood which led me to Knightly Virtues of:

Then to Courtly Love (one can substitute man or God in place of lady):

  • Attraction to the lady, usually via eyes/glance
  • Worship of the lady from afar
  • Declaration of passionate devotion
  • Virtuous rejection by the lady
  • Worship of the lady from afar
  • Declaration of passionate devotion
  • Virtuous rejection by the lady
  • Renewed wooing with oaths of virtue and eternal fealty
  • Moans of approaching death from unsatisfied desire (and other physical manifestations of lovesickness)
  • Heroic deeds of valor which win the lady’s heart
  • Consummation of the secret love
  • Endless adventures and subterfuges avoiding detection

Then to Honor and Status (echoed in the dream) and finally to the armor and the Great Helms (hats) they wore echoed by the vision.  It all comes together with divine precision.
